The Cookalong Podcast

When you need a little culinary inspiration and guidance, this is one concept that delivers.

Cindy has a huge passion for cooking, and her love of food has turned into a startup venture. She sought out my help in implementing a concept for a cookalong podcast and website where at-home chefs can get inspirations... while following along!

The project was successfully deployed and all features were debugged for the client. She is now able to easily import batches of recipes, write blogs, and publish updates, as well as share on social media.

Unique ideas require unique implementations.

A unique WordPress project that required a ground-up approach. The most important aspect of this site was ensuring the right data was being displayed in the right place, at the right time, to avoid user confusion. The final version includes a non-traditional home page, logic to handle recipe and blog pagination, as well a social media and SoundCloud integration. An emphasis was placed on mobile devices for kitchen use, while retaining a good desktop appeal for users to research recipes beforehand.

Keys to Project Success

The purpose and utility of the site had to be clear, as data needed to be managed proper output. The design hinged on how the site was to be used.

Ease of Use for Client

This is a site where content is changed often, so customizing the back-end for the client was needed to streamline content creation and avoid mistakes.

Both SoundCloud and social media integration is a necessity, so ensuring that platform integrations work well together was a priority.

As a professional developer that focuses on providing services to other agencies, don't ask me to cut corners or put a band-aid on it. There's a right way and a wrong way to reprioritize work and speed up production time that doesn't involve creating problems for clients. If you want my help, we're going to do this ethically, correctly, and to standards.

When I work with your agency, expect me to be a good listener, to be confident in what I do, and to never sugarcoat things for you. If something needs to be said for the sake of your reputation and the client's project, then expect to hear it from me first. We'll work together to come up with a realistic, professional plan for your clients that won't cause them pain.

I don't believe in slamming out cheap templates, using stock settings, or working fast and cheap. It's not only your harming your business image as an agency, but it will destroy my reputation as a professional developer. While I'm more than happy to help you, don't ask me to do things that should be found on cheap offshore contractor sites.

My goal is to work in unison with your agency as a contracted senior member of your team to augment the skills and expertise you don't have in-house. We'll need to work closely together and learn to trust one another. So expect a tight working relationship with professional pushback, and you'll need to be ready to grow from day one to be successful.
